Our History

Founded in the 1950s, Heatherwood has been a mainstay in Long Island real estate for decades. Today, we have a portfolio of over 30 residential and commercial properties in prime locations, from Brooklyn to the Hamptons.

1950:

Under the leadership of owner Donald Partrick and Stanley Neisloss, Heatherwood makes its mark in the construction industry, building 7,000 homes across Long Island, NY.

1960:

Heatherwood opens its first apartment community—Heatherwood House at Port Jefferson Apartments—in 1962. It continues to expand, opening up its first golf course, the Heatherwood Executive Golf course (1963) and six apartment communities on Long Island, including Hampton Bays Town and Country (1966), which remains the largest apartment community in the Hamptons to date.

1970:

Heatherwood opens three Long Island communities: Colony Park (1970), Villas at Pine Hills (1976), and Lakeside Village (1979). It also opens up its second golf course, Pine Hill Golf (1970).

1980:

Heatherwood opens its first commercial property, Crossroads Executive Center in Islandia, in 1981. This is followed by the construction and launch of four commercial properties and four apartment communities, including Norwich Gate in Oyster Bay (1982) and Pine Hills South (1987).

1990:

Heatherwood opens 1393 Corporate Center (1990) and Spruce Pond apartments (1997).

2000:

Heatherwood opens two rental properties: Mirror Pond (2001), Southwood 48 (2003), Hillcrest II (2005), Gerard Street (2005), and Medford Pond (2006). Heatherwood also opens two senior communities: The Meadows at Valley Stream (2000) and Dutchgate Condominiums (2009).

2010:

Heatherwood enters the NYC rental and commercial market with its first apartment community in Brooklyn, 568 Union Avenue (2011). It also opens Tower 28 in 2018, the largest residential tower in the outer NYC buroughs at the time of opening.

2020:

Heatherwood launches its new Heritage brand luxury residences with Heritage Spy Ring Golf Club and begins reimaging its existing portfolio.

Douglas Partrick
Owner

Douglas Partrick is a second-generation developer, owner, and operator, and is the current principal and sole owner of Heatherwood. Mr. Partrick has over 50 years of experience working on developments throughout Long Island, Long Island City, and Brooklyn. He is committed to building upscale residential rental communities, commercial properties, and luxury urban spaces. He has run Heatherwood on the principles of exemplary service, striking design, quality construction, and appreciation for natural beauty. It is his commitment to these principles that has made Heatherwood one of the most highly regarded leaders in the industry. Heatherwood has built over 11,000 housing units in Nassau and Suffolk counties, Brooklyn, and Queens, and has constructed and managed two world-class golf courses on Long Island.
