Christopher Capece is the President of Heatherwood and an expert in multifamily and mixed-use real estate. Prior to joining Heatherwood, Mr. Capece was the Vice President of Development responsible for acquisition and development on Long Island, in Westchester County, and in Connecticut for AvalonBay Communities. He is a Board and Executive Committee Member at The George Washington University Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis as well as the Long Island Builders Institute. He sits on the corporate board of the YMCA of Long Island, where he serves as the Chairman of the Nominating Committee, and is an active board member of Community Housing Innovations. He graduated from The George Washington University with a BA in Finance and holds dual MBA degrees from Columbia University and London Business School.

Matt Gendron has over 30 years’ experience managing large-scale multi-family residential construction in various regions throughout the United States. Mr. Gendron is responsible for delivering more than 10,000 apartment homes in over 45 communities. In his current role he oversees a multi-disciplinary construction management staff and is responsible for the integrity of quality standards, schedule reliability, and budget control. He has strong relationships with local officials, professional associations, labor unions, consultants, and contractors, to help deliver residential products that consider the sensitivities of the local community. Prior to joining Heatherwood, he served as Vice President for Construction at AvalonBay Communities.

Tara Bernhardt is Senior Vice President of Operations for Heatherwood, where she oversees all onsite operations, along with Marketing, Revenue Management, Human Resources, Strategic Services, and Information Technology. Ms. Bernhardt started her Property Management career in 2000 and has led operational teams on numerous new developments through stabilization as well as asset repositions and redevelopments. She has managed complex assets throughout her experience, including garden-style, high-rise, beachfront, NYC high-rise with union oversight, golf-course communities, joint-venture assets, and tax-credit properties. Prior to joining Heatherwood, she worked for AvalonBay Communities with several portfolios in the NY Metro area. She started her career as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs.

Vincent Sutera is Vice President of Maintenance and is responsible for the oversight of maintenance operations and asset preservation for all residential and commercial properties in the Heatherwood portfolio. Mr. Sutera joined Heatherwood in 1991, holding the positions of Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, District Supervisor, and District Manager before assuming his current role. His experience includes managing many of Heatherwood’s existing properties as well as being instrumental in the start-up of new projects on Long Island and the boroughs of New York City. He started his career in Property Management in 1984 and worked for Brookwood Communities before joining Heatherwood.

Rickey Piazza is Vice President of Sales and Service, overseeing Leasing, Residential Management, and Accounts Receivable. Mr. Piazza entered Property Management in 2002, after receiving a bachelor’s degree from Johnson & Wales University. Throughout his industry tenure, he has managed a multitude of building types including garden-style, high-rise, mid-rise, and townhomes. He also has experience with tax-credit, rent-stabilized, and condo buildings. His experience includes working at multiple communities in several states such as Rhode Island, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York, and in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Heatherwood, he worked for prominent Property Management companies including Windsor, Archstone, and AvalonBay.

Jodi Baker is Vice President of Marketing and Revenue Management, overseeing Heatherwood’s Marketing and Pricing Strategies. Ms. Baker began her career at Heatherwood in 2004 as a member of Heatherwood’s Residential and Account Management team. She expanded her experience in Multi-Family Housing through work in Long Island Leasing, Profit and Loss, Marketing, Renewals, and as Director of NYC Leasing and Director of Revenue Management before assuming her current role. Her tenure includes experience in resident relations, rent stabilization, garden-style communities, and mid- and high-rise buildings. She attended Clemson University’s Bachelor of Arts program for English as well as Clemson’s Graduate program in Professional Communication.

Jimmi Conway is Vice President of Golf Operations, overseeing the management, operations, and grounds of Heatherwood’s two public golf courses, Pine Hills Golf and Country Club in Manorville, NY, and Spy Ring Golf Club in Setauket, NY. Mr. Conway began his career at Pine Hills in 1985 as a Golf Professional, and brought with him endless enthusiasm for the game and a different teaching philosophy than most professionals at the time. In 2007 he began managing Heatherwood’s executive golf course, Heatherwood Golf Club, until its close for redevelopment in 2018. He has been instrumental in the planning and redevelopment of Heatherwood Golf Club into the premier golf facility Spy Ring Golf Club. He currently has three PGA professionals on staff at Pine Hills, is developing a short-game program for Spy Ring Golf Club, and is dedicated to enhancing the golf experience on Long Island.
